How to insulate a van

Updated: Mar 16, 2023

Our helpful guide will show you how to easily insulate your camper van with our professional bespoke model-specific products.

The CamperTherm insulation system consists of a comprehensive three-layer barrier which effectively insulates against sound and helps to regulate interior temperature.

First to be applied is the sound blocking layer. This is a 2 mm foil-backed rubber product which either comes on a roll as part of our insulation bundles or in pre-cut sections bespoke to your vehicle in our custom-made kits. The foil layer helps to reflect any unwanted heat out of the vehicle in the summer months.

Second to be applied is the thermo-acoustic layer. This is a self-adhesive 100% recycled product made of reconstituted foam crumb. As it is low-density foam, it contains tiny air bubbles which insulate against the cold. It also provides a second acoustic insulation barrier to reduce road noise and keep noise from neighbours at bay.

Last to be applied is the thermal reflective layer. This is a thin layer of self-adhesive foil-backed foam which effectively reflects the heat back into the vehicle. Combined with the microscopic air bubbles in the foam, this provides an excellent means to keep the interior of your camper van warm.

You can choose to cut your insulation to size or why not opt for one of our bespoke custom-made kits which make installation rapid and simple with no cutting necessary. Just peel, stick and go!
